What vegetables can you cook in the air fryer?

You can cook almost any vegetable of your choice in an air fryer. If cooking a variety of vegetables, it’s best to cut them into equal sizes so they cook evenly. If you cook hard vegetables like squash or potatoes with the soft ones, you should start cooking the hard ones first and add the soft ones towards the end of the cooking time.

These are vegetables you can cook in your air fryer:

  • Broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, squash, Brussels sprouts, radish
  • Bell peppers, jalapenos, avocados, tomatoes, mushrooms, pickles
  • Asparagus, green beans, sour bamboo shoots, baby corn, kale, eggplant
  • Potatoes, pumpkins, carrots, sweet potatoes

To make it simpler, we will divide vegetables into two categories: soft and firm. Soft vegetables, like zucchini and tomatoes, cook faster than firmer vegetables, like nut butter and beets.

How to Air Fry Tender Vegetables

Any quick-cooking vegetables will be classified as Soft Vegetables. These are great for those busy weeknights when you need to put veggies on the table! It includes vegetables such as:

  • Cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts)
  • Soft vegetables (such as bell peppers, tomatoes)
  • Thin vegetables (like asparagus)
  • To cook tender vegetables, preheat your air fryer to about 190 C. Prepare your vegetables by chopping them to your desired size, optionally dripping (this will eventually give them a slightly more roasted flavor). Cook for about 15 minutes as flat layers, and shake the air fryer pan twice during cooking.

How to air fry firm vegetables

When people think of roasted vegetables, they usually think of firm vegetables. These guys take longer to cook, but it’s worth it! Solid vegetables include:

  • Root vegetables (carrots, radishes, potatoes, radishes)
  • Winter Squash (avocado seeds, acorn berries, pumpkin)
  • To cook firm vegetables, preheat your air fryer to 190 C)\. Prepare your veggies by cutting them to your desired size. Small pieces cook faster. Optionally, oil in your air fryer is as flat a layer as possible. Cook for 20 to 30 minutes, shaking the pan with air a few times while cooking to cook evenly.

How to air fry frozen vegetables

You can cook frozen vegetables by air fryer. Determine which category your vegetables fall into (soft or hard, see the note above), then simply add a few minutes to the cooking time to account for the vegetables having to defrost during the cooking process. The key thing when cooking frozen vegetables in your air fryer is to give them space! Make sure there’s space between the vegetables to form sure the water can evaporate and that they can cook perfectly.

Material

There are two parts to this recipe – the marinade and the vegetables.

Sauce – This sauce is very similar to my summer roast.

Extra Virgin vegetable oil – you’ll also use regular vegetable oil or any neutral tasting oil

Balsamic Vinegar – This adds a bit of sweetness and aroma to the vegetables

Minced Garlic – Garlic makes everything better. You can use garlic powder but I recommend using fresh garlic.

Dijon Mustard – To emulsify vegetable oil and vinegar. Plus, it brings a bit of saltiness.

Italian Herbs and Black Pepper – I find these to be effective with any summer vegetable but if you don’t have an Italian herb blend you can use a thyme combination. dried, basil and marjoram.

Vegetables – I’m using the “classic” summer vegetables (soft veggies) you see in root vegetables.

Bell peppers – for a sweet crunch and festive color (I prefer red and yellow bell peppers)

Zucchini – Zucchini just called summer to me!

Yellow squash – Another summer vegetable with a mild flavor! You can skip this and use more zucchini or the other way around.

Cranberry Mushroom – I like this mushroom meaty but if you can’t find King Oyster mushrooms you can use regular button mushrooms.

Purple or yellow Onions – I used both in this recipe.

How to make Delicious Air Fryer Roasted Vegetables

Prepare your vegetables. Cut them into similar sizes so they will cook relatively well at the same time. Please note that the vegetables I used in this recipe are the tender vegetables that you will use to make the root vegetable dish. If you are using hard vegetables/vegetables, you need to adjust the cooking time (longer cooking time) for the vegetables to cook.

Prepare the marinade in a large bowl.

Mix the vegetables with the marinade. Use your hands to make sure the sauce coats the vegetables evenly. This is only enough marinade to coat all the vegetables.

Cook in the air fryer at 400F for 13 to 15 minutes. I cook vegetables in two batches. I have a Cosori 5.8 QT air fryer. If you have a smaller size air fryer, I recommend cooking/”grilling” your veggies in 3 to 4 batches.

Conclusion

Air fryers use convection heat — hot air quickly circulated by a fan — to achieve crisp food quickly and with very little oil. They’re most well-known as a lower-calorie alternative to deep frying, but they’re also wonderful for roasting, reheating leftovers, and getting dinner on the table quickly.

This air fryer marinated vegetable is definitely one of the best foods you will make in your air fryer. Grilled vegetables, just like baked or baked in the oven, are delicious with a perfect crunch! Follow sweetwaterbargril.com right now for more great air fryer recipes.
